BREAKING NEWS - Misano will not be a Lurani Round this year.

The race will still go ahead, but it will no longer be a round of the FIA Lurani Trophy.

15/5/07

Revised circuit at Misano does not have an International Licence!

There are sudden developments at Misano since Friday as the FIA realised that the revised track does not have an International licence.

A team is working hard behind the scenes, but it looks as though there is less than a 50% chance that this race will be a round of the FIA Lurani Trophy. The race will still go ahead and will be run under a CSAI track permit.

John Hughes is still waiting a response from CSAI...apparently fairly imminent.

The reason for the lack of license is that, the circuit direction is now going the opposite way and the pit lane exit leads into the braking area for the first corner.

Gunnar Elmgren:

14 April 1942 - 18 January 2007

Very sad news reached us today that Gunnar Elmgren has died. A fine gentleman and a genuine enthusiast with a great love for his sport.

Gunnar only recently retired from his post as the President of the FIA Historic Motor Sport Commission. He will be greatly missed by all of us involved in Historic motor sport and especially Formula Junior. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Helen and daughter Victoria.

7/8 October 2006 - FIA Lurani Trophy Round 7 - Estoril - CANCELLED

Round 7 NOW at Dijon-Prenois - 7/8 October 2006

Francisco Santos writes:

Dear Friends,

After having already cancelled the TGP races, this is a mail I would rather not write: due to unconfirmed interest from several potential main sponsors and mainly due to the astonishing lack of interest of the Estoril Tourist Board (which led to the withdrawal of their financial support since 2003) we have to CANCEL this event.

Immediate steps have been taken to arrange an alternative meeting. We are pleased to report that the race has immediately been replaced by A FINAL ROUND at DIJON-PRENOIS on the same weekend, 6/7/8 October 2006 of the last ever FIA Lurani Trophy race, as founded and run successfully by FJHRE. We hope for a very special entry to commemorate this point in FJ History.

News on Future Races:

14/15/16 July - FIA Lurani Trophy - Spa-Francorchamps

We still need 4 more cars to pay for the race, and there is plenty of room left on the 48 car grid. Mechanical problems and a small incident at Dijon have taken a toll on the FJ's, while the 1.0 F3's, for which this is a round of their European Series, are particularly sparse. The FIA HMSC gave special permission for 1.0 F3's and 1.0 F2's to participate in this race on a one-off basis, in addition to 500/F3's, who are a Lurani Class in any event, of course.

This event is with a new organiser, who is putting on a special effort to make this meeting a success, and as a precursor for future years. Mark you, we are in a very healthy state, mid season, compared to Grand Prix Masters, who have had to cancel one of their sports car grids here, and are still short of filling the other - so if anyone has a 23 or other sports car, there is room here too.

As a result of the GPM cancellation, the present PROVISIONAL timetable is now as follows:

Friday    12.30    Unqualifying Practise
Sat 9.00 Briefing
Sat 10.30 Qualifying Practise
Sat 13:45 R1
Sun 12:10 R2
---------------------------------------

11-13 August - OldTimer GP, Nurburgring - FIA Lurani Trophy

The entry is full, but there are still 3, reserve to practice, places left. With two races, this would all but assure you of at least one race.

---------------------------------------

18-20 August - FIA Lurani Trophy Mantorp Park, Sweden

Please put in your entry NOW, and make a great round trip from Nurburgring. At the moment we have more European and Australian entrants than those from Scandanavia. FIA Int. Historic or Int. C licence required but open to all FJ's and 500s.

FIA - HANS Devices

The FIA are currently proposing that all competitors in FIA Championships will be required to use the HANS Device (where practicable) from 2008. To help drivers understand the advantages of this system and the technical requirements for their use, we have added two important links about the HANS device at the bottom of our Technical page.

Andrew's progress

10 days ago, FJ driver Dr Mark Green organised the air ambulance from Goodwood to Liege and safely collected Andrew and Sue, while Norman and Candice were dropped off to bring Sue's car home.

Andrew spent a few days at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, being assessed, but Sue had him out of there and back to their home as soon as she could, and as a practicing OT herself, has been highly motivated to put Andrew through his exercises.

Andrew's spinal cord was crushed badly in the accident, so, although he has some movement back , the road to recovery will be a long and hard one.

I'm sure they will continue to welcome your support which has been enormous to date. FJHRA paid for the ambulance, and contributions have poured in - thank you everyone for showing the true spirit of FJ in this regard. If anyone else wants to contribute, the kitty is still very much open - £50 a driver was the suggested figure, to "FJHRA" please,- and everything over the flight cost will go towards any equipment that Andrew needs, or any help with the car rebuild.
